About me

Hi, welcome to my professional blog !

I share insights into the world of Talent Acquisition and Headhuting and, tips & tricks for job seekers on how to search for their ideal job at their ideal employer!

== My career ==

Originally from the Caribbean, I started my career in worldwide agencies such as Hays, Randstad and Manpower. This was the opportunity to diversify into Permanent / Contract / Interim recruitment.

The core value of a business resides in its people. After all, an enterprise is just that: a group of people working towards the completion of a common goal. Helping businesses out by finding the right Talent was highly rewarding. Match making a:
  • Company in desperate need for the right person with the skillset and mindset that would fit into their culture
  • Person with dreams, ambitions and career aspirations
into a mutually benificial collaboration, was highly rewarding!

Now, the role of a Recruitment Consultant (I like this definition better, rather than the reductive term "Recruiter", because I've always considered my job to be more than just "putting bums on seat" or "trying to fit a person into a box, by ticking all the boxes") is though, mainly focused on Sales. Whilst I enjoyed prospection and winning new clients, I felt like I wanted more than transactional relationships.

I started to share my knowledge on social media, and launched this blog back in 2012. That was the opportunity to improve my English writting, get a following and give back to the community by sharing insider tips & tricks. The people it helped returned the favour and I learnt how I could leverage social media in recruitment.

I also wanted to dive deeper the art of sourcing and was fascinated about Headhunting. Applying my own advice to my career, IOW "getting a taste of my own medicine" I developed networks in the headhunting industry, which got me to join a headhunting firm, MitchelLake.
There, I learnt the importance of moving this online following to IRL community events.

As a Headhunter, I had specialised in Technology. By then, 2015, ES6 had just come out and there was a growing demand from employers and interest from Developers. The best way to learn a new tech is through peers. I had the networks and thought I could put them to use by gathering those whom we had identified as Top Talent in private ice-braking events:

Where they could learn from other by discussing tech topics, but most importantly, build a community around them!

Before my Master’s in Business Administration, I completed a Bachelor’s in Engineering. The engineer in me wanted to find a solution to the tedious task of manually skiming LinkedIn and solving the complexity of entricated keyword search strings.
I started automating some tasks in Excel, using VBA formulas, then macros, then creating procedures. One thing leading to another, I built a whole application:
  1. Search filtering

  2. Data visualization

By automating my job, I discovered this allowed me to augment my capacity, as follows:
  • Automation of the candidate long list (av. 70% accuracy)
  • Scalable scan of the candidate market (approx. 10k profiles in 5 minutes)
  • Data enrichment (e.g. contact details, classification)
  • Talent Insights & Visualization dashboard of the Talent market (e.g. gender split, Top X employers by size / skillset, etc)
  • Automated reporting via custom metrics (e.g. sourcing strategy, selection funnel)

The time this freeded me up, I re-invested into learning:
  • Web development (HTML5, CSS)
  • Software development (ES6 JS, Node.js, MS SQL)
In 2021, I launched exeksourcing.com to give startups the quality of Executive Search services at a fraction of the price.

Then, came the realisation that the B2E offering is prolific, but what's out there to help the People when waves of lay-offs hit?
That's where the idea to invert the process came.

AI and Robotics are displacing jobs at an alarming rate. In fact, McKinsey projects that Agentic AI could eliminate 400 million jobs by 2030! We help you surf the AI wave and turn to self-reliance in the gig economy.
